This is a be careful what you wish for post. Tacy turned 9 months officially on the 8th and still had no teeth. Normally kids cut their first tooth between 6-8 months so I was really feeling like she was behind, especially since she has been a major drooler since she was 4 months. Brad and I made the decision to discontinue her constant bib wearing because they were irritating her poor neck. So now she just drools on her clothes, the floor, you, etc. With her lack of teeth, I kept saying that with all her drooling I hoped that she had multiple teeth pop out at the same time. Well, last week Tacy had a bad night's rest (meaning she woke up twice) and woke up on Mother's day to discover that she had a tiny bit of a tooth poking out. After another bad night, she had a second bit of a tooth poking out. So she now has both of her front two bottom teeth and we think she is cutting another one now (but it is taking it's time and lots of bad nights). Needless to say, we are almost out of baby Tylenol, so time to buy some ibuprofen for the babe. Almost 3 teeth in less than a week is pretty quick.
Other than that, Tacy's new 9 month stats are that she weighs 18 pounds 7 ounces and she is 27.75 inches long (about the 50th percentile for both). I feel like she is a pretty big kid and every time Brad and I look at old pictures/videos of her we really see how much she has grown. It's hard to remember a time when she fit so nicely in my arms. Tacy is officially crawling. She does not stop moving now. She has perfected her crawl to on her hands and knees and sometimes army crawl (her belly is pretty big so I don't blame her). She also will try to get a foot in on the crawl so it looks like she is trying to stand up, but then she will look at her leg, realize that she is not moving so well with her leg up like that and go back down on her knee. It's pretty funny to watch and makes for an interesting crawl. I need to get a new video of it.
Other new Tacy stuff:
She points her finger all the time now.
She tried cheese for the first time today. She liked the first bite and had a funny face on for the next piece and refused anymore (we won't try medium cheddar again for a while).
Tacy loves peek-a-boo and patty cake (she is great at clapping her hands together and throwing them in the air sometimes)
Tacy still loves to talk and her doctor even heard some talking today
Tacy loves door stops - our doors have the coil door stops and she has discovered these and loves to grab onto them and close/open the door by pulling/pushing on them. She had a lot of fun doing this in her bedroom the other day when I was on the other side of the door and had to keep trying to open it again only to have her shut it in my face and start laughing hysterically
Tacy does not like swinging. We had tried twice in a baby swing, and both times she makes a sad/scared face in about a minute. Hopefully she grows out of that otherwise she is more like her daddy than just her looks
Tacy loves to play with the junk credit cards you get in the mail. We have a unused wallet that had one in it and Tacy found it. Now she plays with it all the time, crawls with it, bangs it on things/people etc. She is a girl what can I say
Tacy has discovered how fun it is to make loud noises, she has started crawling to the linolieum/tile in bathrooms, the kitchen, front entryway etc and slapping her hands on the floor or the toy she is carrying with her. She laughs and thinks it is so funny. She broke a flashlight doing that today (no worries, it was a junk one that was already broken)
Now that she is a crawler, changing her diaper/getting her dressed are interesting and usually require at least one toy to distract her or for someone to hold her. I might be able to get her to be still long enough to get on a new diaper but am improving on dressing a moving baby. Good things its getting warm because putting pants on a crawler aren't easy.
Other than Tacy, Brad broke his right pinky finger in his softball game last Monday. He tried to catch a softball and brought his right hand up to help catch it in his mitt and the ball came right down on his pinky and crushed it. His finger got really swollen and turned a beautiful blue/purple black. He is proud to say that he finished the game batting lefty and he managed to get on base both times. We saw the doctor, had x-rays, saw how his bone was in three pieces and the hand specialist told us he would need surgery to avoid severe arthritis and to be able to move the joint again. He saw a specialist in Salt Lake today was told him he could get surgery or just let it heal but most likely either way he will have stiffness. Not exactly the definitive answer he was looking so, so we are waiting a week to see if it improves and if not then he is getting surgery. Yay.
I'm done with school for the year. I missed my graduation ceremony due to Tacy being really tired and not getting someone to watch her when we needed to go. I thought it wasn't going to be a big deal cause I think graduation ceremonies are boring plus I'm not getting a degree this year, just a certificate. But afterwards I did regret not being there with my classmates to celebrate surviving our first year of nursing school and being halfway to having our RNs (even if the speakers were really awkward). Oh well.
Now i'm just waiting to get the clearance from DOPL and the state board of Nursing to take my licensing exam. Hopefully soon so I can start working as an LPN. In the mean time I'm working at Ross part time (yea exciting) the hours when Brad is home (so evenings and weekends). I'm also taking my lame intro to psych online class that Weber requires.
That's our life. Brad is taking the GRE the first week in June. Hopefully I will be taking the NCLEX around then too.
